When Becca mentions friends (usually Sophie or Claire) she's talking about characters my friends write. They're on DW now! It's kind of a mini expanded cinematic universe that we have going on so let me namedrop in a separate post here.

If Becca mentions Soph or Claire, she's talking about [personal profile] sugarandwhiskey or [personal profile] clairebearn, respectively. I've been writing with them for years and I'm so excited they decided to join me here. They're new to DW, show them some love!

If you see Becca mention Sami, she's talking about [personal profile] andgracetoo - and Jay is Sami's brother who does not yet have a DW (give it time, lol). She may sporadically mention my Claire Bennet [personal profile] infinite1ups - the two Claires plus Soph are the Trouble Trio, and Becca may refer to them as such.

I typically try to avoid having my characters mention other characters I write to avoid making things weird, but there is one exception: Becca's cousin, Shan. Chances are she will mention them, being the only family she hasn't disowned. Shan is [personal profile] cantripchords but tbh I don't write him much.

Becca has a really good memory. She remembers random facts, people's coffee orders, phone numbers, license plate numbers...

If she wants to remember, it's locked in.

(I, on the other hand, can't remember shit, so any errors are mine, lol.)

She isn't very intimidating, physically, so she figures she can endear herself to people by making herself useful with her information. Real "creepy little guy whispering to the head honcho" energy.

If pushed far enough, or desperate enough, she could be lethal. She'd mostly try to do it in a sneaky way though, like poison or a stab from behind, to avoid minimal risk to herself. She's studied criminals and how they get away with crimes. Even if she hasn't done it in practice, she has the education. But it's also possible she could just be unhinged in the right circumstances. With training, she could gain some skill in defending herself, which would probably make her more confident about going on the offensive.

Her fascination with coffee and tea has lent itself to studying the properties of other edible plants. She isn't much of a forager in practice - she lives in big cities - but put in a survival situation, she could reliably identify safe things to eat. This ties into her making herself useful with knowledge. The strong people keep her protected, she helps keep them fed.

Becca also brings a really strong "I can fix them" energy. But also, if she can't fix them, she will meet them where they are, and she's a solid ride or die. Mostly with her people, she wants to make them happy, she wants to do whatever it takes to keep them coming back to her, keep them choosing her.

Becca, by default, was not created to fit in with any specific canon. She's a modern 'every day world' kind of character with a spooky/paranormal twist, so naturally she'd fit into those kinds of settings the best.

That said, I could tweak and adjust her to slot her in pretty much anywhere. Soon I plan to create a separate account for her fantasy/history AU, and I'd like to upload some alternate icons to this account for certain kinds of threads, but in the meantime I'm still okay with writing her in just about any setting.

I'd prefer to drop her into settings I'm at least a little familiar with, but I'm not wholly against going in canon-blind. I'll list some stuff that interests me, and where may also have ideas for her.

Marvel/DC
The Boys
Supernatural
ASOIAF/HotD/GoT
The Fetch Phillips archives (please I beg read these books)
White Collar
Black Sails
Star Trek
Star Wars
Ted Lasso
Heroes

Those are just some main ones that I'm currently into, I guess. The list of stuff I like more casually is way longer. I absorb a lot about some shows just through RP and browsing the internet, so I can get familiar enough to drop her into stuff I haven't fully experienced. Feel free to ask if you're interested in doing anything I haven't listed here!

I've since made an AU version at [personal profile] bexthered for fantasy and historical settings (cough ASOIAF/Black Sails cough). I have some vague ideas about those backstories - I will post more there as I come up with more concrete stuff.

Becca is friendly, and she can be really charming when she tries. But there's still an awkwardness in her, sometimes extreme shyness. She can talk a lot about the spooky stuff she's interested in, though struggles in other areas of conversation. When she displays confidence, more often than not she's faking it. Only occasionally is it actually genuine.

She was bullied through most of her childhood straight on through high school. As a result, she's paranoid, and frankly she expects people to be shitty to her. Most of her relationships have been entirely sexual in nature. Deep down she wants to make a more stable connection, romantic or platonic, though she's both terrified of letting herself be that vulnerable with someone and not entirely sure how to meet someone for that purpose.

Her relationship with her family is strained as well. Not just with her parents, but also her sister and her extended family. She grew up with a very religious upbringing that she rejected early on, which created quite a rift between herself and everyone else. She was and is very much an outcast in her family. Becca's sister was very clearly the favorite since her birth, and it fostered a lot of bitterness and resentment that she's still trying to deal with, even in adulthood after cutting them out of her life.

So, she focuses on her work - she's absolutely a workaholic and a perfectionist. She's committed to running Cafe Ultra by herself, even if that means she can only keep the shop open part time. On top of this, she has a full-fledged writing career with regular blog posts on The Red Pages, as well as published non-fiction and fiction books.

In general, she's extremely eager to please, but especially in a sexual relationship. She gravitates toward authoritative partners, usually older than herself. Her partners aren't always good to her; she's sometimes willing to be treated poorly just to have some kind of connection with someone and to feel wanted. She does have genuine interest in and desire to be kinky, and generally has no shame about the things that bring her pleasure, sexual or otherwise. She likes exploring new things, but she's getting better about voicing her limits when she's not into something. This can change, if she's unhealthily into someone - but this is something that would require established, written CR and possibly OOC discussion. It's not something I feel comfortable handwaving.

When Becca gets really attached to someone, she can get obsessive. She may resort to less-than-healthy (or downright toxic) coping mechanisms and other behaviors as a result.

She very much wants genuine friendships and relationships, but feels like she's going to mess them up, or as though people are just pretending to be interested in her, whether romantic or platonic. She tends to self-sabotage a lot because of this, figuring that things will only get screwed up eventually anyway. It's something she's aware of and is trying to work through.
